Los Baños got her name from the hot springs of Mt. Makiling. These springs which were said to have curative effects attracted the Franciscan Friars to establish public baths in the area. These friars started cleaning portions around these bath houses and constructed rest houses for visitors and sick patients looking for cure for their ailments.
The hot springs, cool climate and beautiful scenery create an aura of peace, tranquility and utmost relaxation. With these in our midst, the municipal government established the Los Baños SPA and WELLNESS CENTER. Further developments were undertaken when the Department of Trade and Industry declared Los Baños as the Wellness Capital of the Philippines in May 2006.
